Angel Locsin

Angel Locsin  Biography
Angel Locsín (born Angélica Locsín Colmenares on April 23, 1985 in Bulacan, Philippines) is a Filipina television and film actress who was introduced in the youth-oriented program of GMA Network entitled Click. Locsin rose to prominence after being casted as one of the lead stars in the fantasy-themed television series Mulawin in 2004. Soon after she headlined as the titular superheroine Darna in the TV adaptation of the popular Mars Ravelo comics hit. Locsin top-billed in several chartbusting films and is widely famous as the love pair of Richard Gutierrez and Dennis Trillo.

Life and career

Locsín grew up in Bulacan and was the second child in a brood of three. Her parents were separated when she was fourteen and she has since lived with her father. Locsin's career in show business began after she was spotted by a talent scout when she cut class with a friend while shopping at SM Mall. She auditioned for several commercials and soon after she landed a contract with GMA Network.

Locsín first appeared in Click, a teen-oriented program on the GMA Network, as the tomboyish Charley (short for Charlotte) where she was paired with (Railey Valeroso). However, she only became widely known when she first appeared on the cover of FHM Philippines. The same magazine frequently lists her as one the "100 Sexiest Women in the World", as well as sexiest Filipina, ranking No. 2 behind Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie. She has also been known the current sex symbol of the Philippines.

After appearing in Click, Locsin gained further exposure as she was cast in television shows like Ang Iibigin Ay Ikaw Pa Rin, All Together Now and Love to Love

In 2004, Locsin received what is considered her biggest break yet. She starred as one of the lead stars in the telefantasya Mulawin. After her role as the half-human, half-avian Alwina where got to be paired with Aguiluz (Richard Gutierrez),she auditioned for the title role of the classic Filipina superhero in Darna television series. She won the part hands down, and was chosen to don the iconic red suit and crest among numerous actresses who tried out. Locsin reunited with former love team Dennis Trillo as they top-bill in GMA's newest fantasy-themed series, Majika.

Aside from television, Locsín also starred in films. Among her big screen credits are Kuya, Mano Po 2, Singles, Sigaw and in 2005 the box-office hit Let The Love Begin, alongside perennial partner Richard Gutierrez. Her team-up with Gutierrez is considered by some as one of the best pairings in the country. She reprised her role as Alwina in the movie adaptation of Mulawin.

Locsin also had her fair share of controversy after appearing in one of the Axe TV ads, many feminist groups, as well as former Senator Nikki Coseteng, complained about the offensive gestures in the advertisement. In the television commercial, Angel is teasing a man by showing off money and her body but the man approaches Angel and takes only her money. Because of the complaints, Unilever Philippines, the maker of Axe, slowly pulled out the commercial.

Locsin, on 21 April 2006, spent a pre-21st birthday get-together with close friends and relatives in Aurora Ville Resort. After a short program hosted by Joel Almagro, Locsin thanked the organizers for a simple but sincere effort to make her day complete. This, after spending the whole day with kids with various medical conditions and giving free medical aid.

Ahmed Shehzad

 Ahmed Shehzad Biography
Barely out of teens, Ahmed Shehzad is a captivating young opener who is touted to be one of the brightest gems to emerge from Pakistan cricket.
The right hander who took to the game aged just seven has over the years been a prolific scorer for Pakistan’s Under-19s and Youth sides. Just 16, he made his domestic debut for Habib Bank Limited and the first signs of his enormous talent were evident when with a fine 167, he helped Pakistan Under-19 chase down a stiff target of 342 set by England in a Youth Test. Back home, he went to score 315 runs in a 5-0 mauling of Australia Under-19s in a Youth ODI series and with a whirlwind 92 of just 49 balls for the Lahore Eagles in domestic game giving further proof of his talent. Following a successful 2008 Under-19 World Cup campaign, he made it Pakistan’s Test squad for the 2009 home series against Sri Lanka.
He co-incidentally made his ODI and T20 debut against Australia in 2009 but failure to come up with substantial scores resulting in his axing after playing just four ODIs. However he was recalled back to side in late 2010 for a tour to New Zealand.
Only 19, Shehzad may still prone to the youthful recklessness but with time and experience is bound to be a much more improved cricketer in future.

Younis Khan

Younis Khan Biography
Full name Mohammad Younis Khan

Born November 29, 1977, Mardan, North-West Frontier Province

Major teams Pakistan, Habib Bank Limited, Nottinghamshire, Peshawar Cricket Association, Rajasthan Royals, South Australia, Surrey, Warwickshire, Yorkshire

Also known as Younus Khan

Playing role Middle-order batsman

Batting style Right-hand bat

Bowling style Right-arm medium, Legbreak

Younis Khan is fearless, as befits his Pathan ancestry and will forever be remembered as the second Khan to bring home a world title for Pakistan: Younis was Pakistan's captain in the 2009 World Twenty20, leading a successful campaign with stark similarities to the one Imran Khan had led 17 years earlier. Younis retired from the format straight after, a graceful and dignified gesture from a complex but honest man.

It is as a batsman, and a fearless one, that he made his name first, playing with a flourish. He is especially strong in the arc from backward point to extra cover. He is prone to getting down on one knee and driving extravagantly. But this flamboyance is coupled with grit.

Though Younis was one of the few batsmen who retained his place in the team after Pakistan's disastrous World Cup campaign in 2003, he lost it soon after due to a string of poor scores in the home series against Bangladesh and South Africa. He came back for the one-day series against India, but failed to cement a place in the Test side. He is among the better fielders in Pakistan and he took a world-record four catches in one innings as substitute during Pakistan's demolition of Bangladesh in the 2001-02 Asian Test Championship.

But until his return to the side in October 2004, he wasn't a fixture. At the pivotal one-down, against Sri Lanka in Karachi, a century laid the groundwork for his emergence as a force in Pakistan cricket. He was the top run-getter in the disastrous 3-0 whitewash in Australia immediately after and on the tour of India, for which Younis was elevated to vice-captain, he blossomed. After a horror start to the series he came back strongly, capping things off with a match-winning 267 in the final Test. He credits the late Bob Woolmer, to whom he was close, for the turnaround in his career.

Since then, barring minor troughs such as the 2005-06 series against England at home, his career has been one elongated peak, scoring hundreds against India and England for fun and becoming Pakistan's most successful one-down in recent memory. More importantly, the tour to India also showcased his potential as a future captain of Pakistan and his energetic and astute leadership has impressed many people. As captain in Inzamam's absence he led the side to a disastrous loss against the West Indies in 2005 but also to a memorable win against India in Karachi in January 2006.

He blotted his book by suddenly resigning from the captaincy in Inzamam's absence for the Champions Trophy 2006, only to return a day later and lead a scandal-afflicted side to a disappointing first round exit. He was the favourite to take over the captaincy after Pakistan's ignominous World Cup ouster in 2007 but he turned it down, citing mental strain and decided to honour his commitment with Yorkshire by making himself unavailable for Pakistan. In January 2009, however, the PCB came calling a third time, after Pakistan's disastrous home ODI series against Sri Lanka, and appointed him captain in place of Shoaib Malik. Within a few months, with the Twenty20 win, Younis was looking a natural leader.

But the peace, once again, did not last long and several senior players in the team expressed misgivings over Younis' leadership. Things came to a head against New Zealand in Sharjah, after which he announced his resignation from the top-job and sought a break from the team for the tour down under. He was included in the ODI team, midway through a disastrous tour, but struggled for form and runs. His career hit its biggest controversy in March 2010 when, along with Mohammad Yousuf, he was banned by the PCB from all Pakistan teams, for causing infighting within the team, in effect ending his career.graphy
